A little bit about the history of Coral Springs
How did Coral Springs all begin?
Coral Springs History
Coral Springs was incorporated in 1963.
With Coral Ridge Properties vision for a master planned community, they purchased 3,860 acres in the northwest corner of Broward county for $1 million in 1961. By 1964, their vision amounted to selling 536 building lots for a price of $1.6 million which was the beginning of Coral Springs. During that year is when the nostalgic Covered bridge construction began which is now recovered with the state of Florida as a Florida Heritage site. Take a closer look of the bridge below.
To this day, where Coral Springs has become known as the “City in the Country”, residents are grateful to Coral Ridge Properties with their early adoption of some stringent landscaping and signage laws that made sure Coral Springs would remain as an aesthetically pleasing city, while maintaining the beauty of its natural surroundings. It’s not everywhere that you can visit a southeast Florida city that reveals such beauty eliminating rows of billboards and signs without a tree in sight.
Not an easy task nor common for cities nationwide, but Coral Springs has managed to achieve bonds being rated “AAA” by all three of the Wall Street rating agencies. AAA is the best credit rating that a city can achieve and Coral Springs has been awarded this for its superior financial performance management. They have been viewed as having a solid financial position, impressive long range planning and their management policies are commendable.
